Save a Furry Friend Animal Rescue held a fundraising event at Chez Jacqueline on Palm Harbor Village Way. Owner of the shop Jacqueline Hamilton often has fundraisers for different local organizations. “This might be our best year ever. Every time we hold an event I get the satisfaction from helping others while receiving a wealth of friends and support for my shop,” Jacqueline Hamilton said. Her shop, nestled in Palm Coast, has been a success for the last 12.5 years.
The entrance fee for the fundraiser from each guest went to raise money for SAFFARI. As well as 10% of sales from the wine sold at the event from Hammock Wine & Cheese.
Guests also had a chance to meet a couple of supportive local artists, whose artwork will be donated to SAFFARI. “I believe I have been given a special gift to draw and with it I can contribute back to the community,” Clare Vilante said.
SAFFARI has been a 501c3 nonprofit facility for two years as of this September. Last year SAFFARI helped over 1000 animals within our community with the help of 18 highly dedicated and passionate volunteers. SAFFARI is utilizing a proactive solution to the problem of cats over populating. This year founder of the organization Ruth Rupprecht is focusing efforts on trap-neuter-release or TNR. The long term goal is to have every feral cat in Flagler County go through TNR. With these efforts, so far zero feral cats are shown to be repopulating the area of Marineland through Flagler Beach. The animal rescue pays for the cats to be spayed or neutered as well as any veterinary visits and antibiotics. “SAFFARI is a vehicle we can all use to help animals,” Ruth Rupprecht said.
