Total Comfort Heat and Air Conditioning Inc., 400 N. U.S. 1, donated $7,027 on Dec. 2 to Me Strong, a charity that helps people battling cancer.
“Throughout the years, we’ve had family members and employees that have been touched by cancer,” said company president. Dan Hucks. “We have one employee that is just coming back to work after chemotherapy.”
The company has been in business since 1976 and has many long-term employees.
Hucks said the company wanted to donate money where it would have a big impact, so chose Me Strong, a community organization founded by five women in DeLand in 2011. It helps pay bills for those who can’t work when being treated for cancer.
“This is huge for us,” said Linda Ryan, of Me Strong. She said the organization is all-volunteer and all of the money will go to those they are helping.
Total Comfort raised the money in October by pledging a certain amount for each type of service they performed. For example, for A/C system installation, they set aside $100, and for a water heater, they designated $25.
