“Everybody jump!” Prompted DJ Mike Grabner, of Pyramid Disc Jockeys, to the crowd dancing to the “Cha-Cha Slide” at Central Park in Town Center on Saturday, Dec. 12. Hundreds of Palm Coast residents gathered early in the evening to claim a spot along the parade route, which started on the western round-about on Central Ave. and concluded at the southern end of Bulldog Drive.
“This parade is a wonderful family tradition that we take our kids to every year, each year is better than the last.” Melanie Warren, resident of Palm Coast
The onlookers enjoyed entertainment before the start of the parade provided by the Flagler Palm Coast High School’s soloists, a chance to meet Santa and a performance by a Cocobean Steel Drum musician.
At precisely 7 p.m. the parade began, with over 100 beautifully decorated floats dazzling onlookers with Christmas lights.
This year’s grand marshal was Palm Coast Volunteer Firefighter Howard Peiffer, who had the privilege to ride in the parade on a 1938 Ford MFG fire engine. Peiffer is a U.S. Army veteran, who served as a firefighter in Lake Mohegan, New York, before retiring to Palm Coast as a volunteer in 1992. He is now the associate coordinator of the volunteer force for Palm Coast Fire Department.
