The Flagler County Board of County Commissioners will consider an ordinance regulating vacation rentals during a special 5:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 19 meeting at the Government Services Building at 1769 State Road 100 in Bunnell.

The ordinance would require short-term vacation rental owners to register their rentals through the county and license the, through the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation as transient public lodging establishments.

The text of the proposed ordinance also limits occupancy to 10 persons per rental in some zoning districts and 16 occupants in others, as well a maximum of one person per 150 square feet; and a maximum of two persons per sleeping room plus two in a common area. The total number of occupants could also not exceed the number of people allowed in accordance with the property’s septic tank permit.

This will be the second and final reading for the ordinance.

The County Commission passed it unanimously Nov. 3, 2014, but also asked staff to revise sections of it before a second reading and vote.
