A rocket carrying a satellite designed to improve communications for U.S. ground forces around the globe, launched from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. It will provide 10 times more capability than current systems in use, including voice, video and data.
After a brief delay Atlas V launched at 8:04 p.m. Local photographer Hugh Driscoll captured a photo of the launch over Ormond Beach.
