Ormond Beach police are seeking Garrett L. Schroeder, 22, on a first degree murder charge. A no-bond warrant was signed by Judge Michael Orfinger on July 4.
Schroeder is believed to be driving a maroon, 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse with Florida tag AUHW67. He is five feet, nine inches tall, and may have dyed his hair dark brown or black, police say.
Police were called to 8 Foxhunter Flat, in the Breakaway Trails area, on July 3, by a person who had discovered a body. Police have not identified the victim or the cause of death.
According to county property records, the house is owned by Christian Schroeder, who is the father of Garrett Schroeder.
According to police spokesman Keith Walker, Garrett Schroeder has ties to the Tallahassee, Daytona Beach, South Daytona and Ormond Beach areas. He is known to frequent Carrabba’s Italian Grill, micro-breweries, and is known to be a “gamer.”
For any tips concerning this incident, contact Detective Sergeant James Doggett at 295-7028. The subject may be armed.
On Aug. 21, 2014, Schroeder was arrested after his mother, Christina, was found bleeding from the head, the apparent victim of a hammer attack. Deputies said she was struck three or four times by her son. He was charged with aggravated battery and later given a sentence of probation.
Christina Schroeder does not live at the Foxhunter address.
