Texas resident killed in I-95 crash early Monday

Houston, Texas resident Micale Annilus, 40, died and two other people in the same car were seriously injured after their Nissan Rogue veered in front of a semi tractor-trailer and the two vehicles collided on Interstate 95 early Monday morning.

The crash happened at about 2 a.m. near mile marker 289, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

Dagobert Laurent, a 43-year-old Houston resident, was driving north on the inside lane with Annilus and another passenger, 21-year-old Key West, Florida resident Winderson Annilus, in the car.

The tractor trailer, with 31-year-old Miami resident Reynier Ricardo Pino at the wheel, was also heading north, but in the outside lane, when “For unknown reasons at this time, the Nissan slowed and traveled from the inside traffic lane to the outside traffic lane into the path of the semi tractor-trailer,” according to the FHP report.

The front of the semi struck the right side of the Nissan, and Micale Annilus died at the scene of the crash. Laurent and Winderson Annilus were taken to Halifax Hospital in Daytona with serious injuries, and Pino was not injured, according to the report.
