Synchro Belles finish strong at Junior Olympics

The Flagler County SynchroBelles ended an incredible season with Top 10 finishes at the 2015 U.S. Junior Olympics from June 26 to July 4, in Greensboro, NC.

The U.S. Junior Olympics is considered to be the premier event for synchronized swimmers across the nation. Synchronized swimmers from age groups from 12U to 18 years of age can compete in team routines, duets solos and figures. The SynchroBelles had 19 compete in the Olympics.

The Belles had 7 routines that qualified for the Junior Olympics; they competed with over 1,000 athletes from across the Nation.
The 16-19 Age Group won the silver medal for the combo routine. Team members are Yasmin Daiha, Cassandra Gubala, Elyse Hinman, Alexandra McMillin, Paige Areizaga, Samile Daiha, Megan Lake, Chiara Longo, Alyssa Trent and Victoria Woroniecki. Gubala and McMillin also finished fourth with their duet in the 16-17 Age Group.

Woroniecki came in seventh place with her 13-15 Age Group solo, and she and Daiha placed sixth for 13-15 Age Group duet.
The 13-15 Age Group team finished in eighth place overall. Team members are Paige Areizaga, Samile Daiha, Elyse Hinman, Megan Lake, Chiara Longo, Alyssa Trent, Victoria Woroniecki, with Sophia Alverez and Grace Weed as Alternates.

Areizaga and Trent placed 19th for 13-15 Age Group duet.
The 12U Age Group team finished in 18th place. Team members are: Alex Alvarado, Rachel Lee, Isabella Lojewski, Sarah Morris and Ella Steinwehr.

“The girls did amazingly well,” coach Isabella Vasconcellos said. “I was expecting good results, but, after seeing our competition, I knew we would have positive results and place very high. “They exceeded my expectations and reached our team goals. It was definitely a successful end of the season.”

The SynchroBelles are currently on break, and they will kick off another season mid-August.
