Southeast Museum of Photography Film Series: Redesigning Our World

One film from the series will be shown on select Wednesday’s at 1:30 p.m. This film series feature issues surrounding urban agriculture and sustainability. These issues include but are not limited to animal ethics, ocean ecologies and a range of environmental topics. The films are free and open to the public, donations are welcome. Southeast Museum of Photography Film Series: Saints and Sinners

One film from the series will be shown on select Wednesday’s at 7:30 p.m. This series investigates the fine line between good and evil. Selected films range in character from silent epics to contemporary independent films. Post screening discussions will be held by faculty member Eric Breitenbach. All of the films in this series will be shown with written captions for the hearing impaired.  . The films are free and open to the public, donations are welcome. My Morning Jacket with Mini Mansions

The St. Augustine Amphitheater is featuring My Morning Jacket on Saturday, August 1 at 7:00 p.m. They will be playing their seventh full length album The Waterfall via ATO Records/Capitol Records. My Morning Jacket was nominated for the Grammy’s for their album Circuital, also ranked among 2011’s publications such as Rolling Stone, Paste, MOJO and Uncut. Also nominated in the past were the bands albums The Tennessee Fire from 1999, and 2008’s Evil Urges. Counting Crows Tour with Guest Citizen Cope & Hollis Brown

At the St. Augustine Amphitheatre band Counting Crows will play on Sunday, August 2 at 6 p.m. They will be featuring their new album Somewhere Under Wonderland. Family Art Night

On Friday, August 7 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. the Ormond Memorial Art Museum and Gardens is having a free family art night. This event is held every first Friday of the month with art instructor Linda King. August 7 will be an Asian style pagoda, all materials will be provided. For more information contact 676-3347.

Beyond Therapy

On Friday, August 7 through the 30 the Limelight Theatre in St. Augustine is having a comedy/farce called Beyond Therapy. The play directed by Christopher Durang focuses on Prudence and Bruce from Manhattan seeking a stable romantic relationship with psychiatric help. After placing personal ads their first meeting is a disaster and they report back to their therapists, who turn out to be more troubled than their patients. Flagler Plein Air art Exhibit with the Flagler County Art League

Saturday, August 8 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The Flagler County Art League Gallery is having an art show to exhibit local artists who enjoy painting landscapes on location. Wine and food will be provided to all who attend. The exhibit will run through Tuesday, September 8. The Nutcracker Auditions

On Saturday, August 15 at 9 a.m. the St. Augustine Ballet is holding auditions for The Nutcracker, to play from December 20-21 this year at Lewis Auditorium at Flagler College. X102.9 presents Sublime with Rome, Rebelution, Pepper and Mickey Avalon

The show starts at 5:35 p.m. gates will open at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 16. Come to the St. Augustine Amphitheater to see Sublime with Rome, Rebelution, Pepper and Mickey Avalon preform back to back live concerts. Celebrate 450th Anniversary Commemoration with Art

The St. Augustine Art Association is preparing for the upcoming “Celebrate St. Augustine” art exhibit on Tuesday, September 1 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. or Wednesday, September 2, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Artists who are members may participate in the exhibition and are encouraged to produce 2D or 3D pieces that reflect St. Augustine’s people, culture, history and architecture. All work submitted must have been recent within the last three years. A $450 prize will go to the best piece, other awards will be given including a $300 Jean Wagner Troemel Award. Vanya & Sonia & Masha & Spike

Show dates for Vanya and Sonia and Mash and Spike are going to be from September 5, 6, 11, 12, and 13 at 7:30 p.m. Also on September 7 and 14 at 2 p.m. The show, directed by Jonette DeMarsico, will be held at the Daytona Playhouse.

EMMA presents Fiesta 450!

The show will be held at the St. Augustine Amphitheater on Sunday, September 6 at 4 p.m. In celebration of St. Augustine’s 450th Commemoration, the EMMA Concert Association Fiesta 450! The event will start off at 3 p.m. with a Spanish-themed musical salute by St. Augustine’s premier cultural arts organizations including St. Augustine Community Chorus. The event is six hours of all Spanish themed entertainment, including free Spanish-themed performances from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. A ticketed performance by Ensemble Espanol Spanish Dance Theatre will begin at 7:30 p.m. This performance is specially choreographed for the 450 theme and unites Spanish and American culture. Alumni Focus 2015

The exhibit will have a Panel Presentation on Wednesday, September 9 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. The work will be shown through September 20. The Alumni Focus exhibition series that is featured twice yearly by the Southeast Museum of Photography to show work from distinguished alumni. Seventeen photographers will be featured who have graduated from Daytona State College from the years 1979 to 2009. There will be a vast variety of work shown including fashion, travel, lifestyle, architectural, portrait and wedding photography.

Second Nature: A Survey by Brad Temkin

Award winning Chicago-based photographer Brad Temkin is showing a special exhibition of his work on documenting human and environmental relationships from September 9 to December 18 at the Southeast Museum of Photography. The exhibition is a collection of work from ten years that all portray the relationship of man’s imprint on natural landscapes alongside human efforts to reincorporate natural elements back into urban environments. Images of gardens atop skyscrapers show the elements of both the natural and manmade world. These images flawlessly capture the contrast between manmade and natural beauty while showing progression towards man’s positive change in the direction of a more natural world. Thee Oh Sees with Golden Pelicans and Waylon Thornton & the Heavy Hands

The show will be on Tuesday, September 15 at 7 p.m. The St. Augustine Amphitheater in partnership with Commoditie Booking is presenting the Backyard BBQ featuring Thee Oh Sees with guests Golden Pelicans and Waylon Thornton & the Heavy Hands. To purchase tickets visit www.staugamphitheatre.com.

Afternoon Tea for the Arts

Ring of Fire

On September 18 through October 18 the Limelight Theatre in St. Augustine is showing a musical revue of Johnny Cash’s greatest hits. Show times are at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday through Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday matinees. The musical will be at Matuza Main Stage, 11 Old Mission Ave, St. Augustine. Arts on Wheels

On Saturday, September 19 at 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. the Flagler Auditorium is hosting its second annual Arts on Wheels Poker Run and Scavenger Hunt.
