Flagler County’s Habitat for Humanity dedicated its 92nd house built to the Otero family. Friday, July 31, was the family’s first time viewing the interior of the finished house. Carmen Otero and her children expressed gratitude for the generosity they have received from Habitat for Humanity and the community at large.
“I am so grateful for the kindness we have received. It really hits my heart,” said Cristyan Otero. “I will enjoy this house for years to come.”
“I think I’m going to cry,” was all Carmen Otero could manage to say. “Thank you all.”
Carmen Otero has given over 250 hours of volunteer service toward building homes within the community, as well as her own.
The Otero house took four months to complete with the many helping hands of the Otero family as well as Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build group, Collegiate Challenge group and John Knox’s construction crew. The build started at the end of March with the Collegiate Challenge crew and concluded in mid-July. For information about getting involved, contact Joanna Folsom at [email protected].
