A group of Publix Supermarket’s District and Store Managers presented United Way of Volusia-Flagler Counties a check for $931,297.81 on behalf of Publix Supermarkets Charities and Publix associates.

The check represented the single largest donation to the United Way of Volusia-Flagler Counties and reiterates Publix’s status as the largest supporter of United Way in the community. The donation is made up of $397,800 donations from Publix Supermarket Charities and the remainder comes from Publix Associates (employees) from local stores.

“Publix goes above and beyond in this community, not only in their financial support but also of their time and talents,” said Ray Salazar, United Way VFC President. “Publix continues to carry on the spirit of giving set by their founder, Mr. George Jenkins, 85 years ago.” Nearly 100 local Publix employees recently volunteered at local agencies during Publix Serves Day on April 17.
