With a jet fly over, former Major League Baseball player, celebrity TV host and many other dignitaries, the Palm Coast Little League returned to the city with a bang.

Hundreds of players, parents, coaches, volunteers and media members surrounded the baseball diamond for the Little League’s opening ceremony at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 7, at the Indian Trails Sports Complex.

Ty Pennington, television’s Extreme Makeover host, among other things introduced the teams by their age and divisions. After him, former major league player and manager Bill Stein offered encouraging words to the kids, saying, “Pay attention to your coaches. They're the ones who will teach you and lead you. It's a very difficult game. You're going to make mistakes. If one of your teammates makes a mistake, pat them on the back. Even major league players make mistakes.”
