Flagler Special Olympics: Going for gold

Flagler County Special Olympics returned to Palm Coast with a heavy load of gold, silver and other medallions from the Florida Special Olympic Games Saturday, May 16, at Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports fields.

Valen Pinkey and Adam McDowell, both, won gold in the shot put, and Pinkey also won the 100-meter dash while McDowell took silver. McDowell, Keaton Wilburn, Nicole Ingalls and Gabriella Quadara won first place in the unified relay race. Wilburn also took second in the shot put and fifth in the 100-meter dash.

Team Flagler Fury took second place in soccer, and the Flagler Mystics finished fourth. In Bocce doubles, Jennifer Fugitt and Dean Dunn won silver, and Michael Vasquez got second in the 100-meter dash and third in the shot put.
