Publix donates big

A group of Publix Supermarket’s District and Store Managers presented United Way of Volusia-Flagler Counties a check for $931,297.81 on behalf of Publix Supermarkets Charities and Publix associates.
The check represented the single largest donation to the United Way of Volusia-Flagler Counties and reiterates Publix’s status as the largest supporter of United Way in the community. The donation is made up of $397,800 donations from Publix Supermarket Charities and the remainder comes from Publix Associates (employees) from local stores.
“Publix goes above and beyond in this community, not only in their financial support but also of their time and talents,” said Ray Salazar, United Way VFC President. “Publix continues to carry on the spirit of giving set by their founder, Mr. George Jenkins, 85 years ago.” Nearly 100 local Publix employees recently volunteered at local agencies during Publix Serves Day on April 17

Captains BBQ voted a best in the nation

Captains BBQ of Flagler Beach was recently voted as one of the Top 10 best barbeque restaurants in the nation for the second consecutive year in a row in CNN’s TripAdvisor’s list. Last year Captains ranked eighth, but according to it has moved up two spots.
“To get voted in the Top 10 two years in a row is a blessing,” said Chris Herrera, one of the owners. “We get great reviews on all of our food, but our ribs are crazy good.”

3D Tree & Landscaping open new office and expands

3D Tree & Landscaping has added new equipment, and has moved into a new office and warehouse in Bunnell.
The company moved into its first office last month after previously operating from a home office and a warehouse in Bunnell since opening in 2006. The office is located at 1 Enterprise Drive, Unit 6. They signed a lease in January and built-out the 3,000 sq ft space to include a reception area and lobby, two offices, and a warehouse space for storing and loading and unloading equipment each day.
“The new office and equipment enhance the ability of us to serve our growing customer base and to appeal to the broader needs of both residential and commercial properties,” owner Darren Davis said. “We are grateful to our team and customers for all of their support as we grow.”
The company also purchased a 2008 Chevrolet 2500 truck, bringing their total fleet to seven trucks. In addition, they purchased a new Vermeer SC362 Stump Grinder. The company tripled its business in 2014, and is continuing to grow its customer base and work crews.

Florida Hospital donates to Flagler County Free Clinic

Florida Hospital Flagler Foundation presented a check for $57,643 to the Flagler County Free Clinic Thursday, May 7, in Bunnell.
The donation was made with the proceeds from the Florida Hospital Flagler Foundation’s sixth-annual Moonlit Gala at the Club on March 1, at Hammock Beach. More than 300 guests helped the hospital raise the funds for the Clinic, which serves residents who do not have health insurance and are 200% or more below the federal poverty level.
