Julie Sabine, of Palm Coast, geared up for the Friends of A1A Scenic and Historical Coastal Byway Spoonbills and Sprockets Cycling Tour starting at day break Sunday, Nov. 1. Julie cycled 36-miles, with her husband Stephen and their personal trainer Jesse and his wife Jen Warmka, of Palm Coast. The route took the cyclists along a beautiful and serene path beside the ocean.
The cycling tour is the Friends of A1A’s main fundraising event held annually for the last four years starting and ending at Marineland. This year over 130 bicyclists, in three categories, preregistered for the event. The bicyclists had the option in partaking in the 36-, 72- or 100-mile ride.
“Stephen and I are on a healthy path right now, just two years ago I was nearly 300 pounds,” Julie Sabine said. “Bicycling has played a role in a lifestyle change. We work at it every day with the help and motivation of our personal trainer Jesse.”
Julie and Stephen decided to do the cycling tour for a fun twist to their normal workout routine. Every day the duo runs, lifts weights or circuit trains to keep a steady, healthy and active lifestyle.
“The feeling of accomplishment after completing a long distance ride makes the long trek worth it,” Julie said, with Stephen nodding in agreement.
