Ladder almost scrap
1:51 p.m. — First Block of Pine Drive
Theft. The victim said that while doing yard work, he observed the suspect pick up his ladder and load it into a pickup truck. The ladder had been up against the tree line, surrounded by freshly cut lawn debris.
The victim yelled that he could see the suspect taking his ladder. The suspect then apologized and allowed the victim to remove the ladder from the truck. The suspect then left the area.
The officer contacted the suspect at his residence, and the suspect said he thought the ladder was abandoned. He did not notice the lawn debris and figured it had fallen out of a truck. He said he was a part-time scrapper and was looking for items to scrap.
The victim declined to press charges.

Sort of good Samaritans
12:35 p.m. — 200 Block of West Granada Boulevard
Theft. The victim said that after getting gas, she was driving away when the driver door became open and her purse fell from the door compartment onto the road. She turned around, and some bystanders had collected her purse from the road.
Upon returning home, she noticed $18 in cash and her credit card were missing.

Yes, but those aren’t my boots
11:03 p.m. — 500 Block of West Granada Boulevard
Possession of Methamphetamine with intent to sell. The officer made a traffic stop after seeing a car, with no headlights or taillights, swerving between lanes.
The suspect said he was just released from the hospital and showed the officer prescription pills he had just picked up. The officers noticed signs of impairment and also saw a pill bottle on the floor which the suspect had not revealed.
The officer asked for consent to search the vehicle, and the suspect agreed. The officer found that the pill bottle was full of bolts and nuts.
The officer also found a pair of boots. Inside the boots were small baggies with a white residue inside. Tested with a field kit, the substance tested positive for methamphetamine.
The suspect was arrested, and he said that “those are my friend’s boots.” No one had mentioned that the drugs were found in the boots.
A phone was also found in the boots. Asked who owned the phone, the suspect said it was his.
The suspect wanted to make sure his cash went with him to the jail. The officers had to ask him for the location of the cash, and it was found under the carpet by the brake. There was $2,800 in $100 bills. He said the money was left to him by his father who died several years ago.
Because of the nature of how the money was found, the methamphetamine, and three cell phones found in the car, the money was seized.
The suspect was a copy of the seizure paperwork and arrested.
