A locally-based golf management company has received the city of Flagler Beach's initial approval to take over the derelict Ocean Palm Golf club.
Under the contract approved on first reading at a special meeting of the Flagler Beach City Commission Nov. 5, Flagler Golf Management will take over the course and pay the city a base rent of $200 per month, which will be adjusted by 3% each year, plus: from the 25th month of operation through the 60th, 3% of any gross revenue over $100,000; then, from the 61st month after the commencement of the agreement and until the agreement expires, 3% of all gross revenue. The initial term of the lease is 15 years, according to the agreement, and is revewable for two 10-year terms.
But the length of the initial term and conditions for subsequent terms is still being negotiated, and may be changed before the contract comes before the commission again for a second reading.
The company's registered agents are Flagler Beach resident Duane McDaniel and his cousin Terrence McManus, a Wellington, Florida resident.
The contract must come before the commission again for a second vote before it's finalized. That meeting is scheduled for Nov. 20.
