The second, of three Veteran Day observances began at 10 a.m. in front of the Government Services Building in Bunnell. Palm Coast had their services at Heroes Memorial Park at 8 a.m., and Flagler Beach at 1 p.m. in Veterans Park.
Judge David Walsh, a retired captain with the U.S. Navy Reserves, was the guest speaker and spoke of his, and his father’s time in the service.
This year, the typically one-hour observance was extended until 2 p.m. to highlight informational booths set up by the Army National Guard (the Flagler County airport unit is currently deployed in Afghanistan), the St. Augustine Naval Sea Cadet Battalion, the St. Augustine-Palm Coast Council of the Navy League, Flagler American Legion Post 115, American Gold Star Mothers, Haven and Gentiva Hospice and Ormond Strong.
