THURSDAY, NOV. 19

Historical Bus Tour

9:45 a.m. at The Casements, 25 Riverside Drive. Presented by the Ormond Beach Historical Society, this two hour tour includes 30 sites. Tickets are $20 for adults, $7 for ages 7-12, and can be purchased at the OBHS Welcome Center. Reservations are required as space is limited.  Call 677-7005 for tickets.

Stroke Support Group

3 p.m. at Florida Hospital Oceanside, first floor café, 264 S. Atlantic Ave. This support group is designed to help stroke patients as they adjust to changes in their daily lives. This group is led by one of our speech pathologists. This group meets on the third Thursday of every month. Call 676-4222 Ext. 5095.

Living With Cancer Support Group

3 p.m. at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center’s Cancer Institute’s chapel, 224 Memorial Medical Parkway, Daytona Beach. Patients, survivors or caregivers will have the opportunity to talk about the day-to-day challenges of living with cancer in a group of people who can inspire, relate to and support fellow patients, survivors and caregivers along their journey. This group meets on the third Thursday of every month. Registration is not required. Call 231-4000.

Citizens and Neighbors Devoted to Ormond Beach

6:30 p.m. at Fellowship Hall, Riverside Church, 56 N. Beach St. Public invited to discuss quality of life issues and city government. Call Jeff Boyle at 441-5934.

FRIDAY, NOV. 20

Mega Rummage Sale

9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at St. James Episcopal Church, 38 S. Halifax Dr. Also held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 21. Sales are cash only and final. A snack bar offering homemade soup, sandwiches and beverages will be available. The sale is sponsored by the Friends of St. James and all proceeds go to reducing long-term debt.

Open Gym

6 to 8 p.m. at the Ormond Beach Gymnastics Center, 432 N. Nova Road. Ages of 8-21. This will be an open gym format and there will only be light spotting. Coaches will be on the floor at all times. A waiver to participate must be signed by each person and anyone under 18 years of age must have the waiver signed by a parent. The cost is $5 per participant. Participants may register at the Leisure Services Registration Office or online. Registrations will also be accepted at the door. Call 676-3250.

“Let’s Hang On: A Four Seasons Tribute”

7:30 p.m. at the Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center, 399 N. U.S. 1. Presented by Allengang Entertainment. Cost is $30 for reserved and $35 at the door. Call 676-3375.

Seaside Herb Society

Discover Our History Lecture Series

10 a.m. at Anderson-Price Memorial Building, 42 N. Beach St. The Ormond Beach Historical Society will present “Global Events That Touched Florida:  From the Great Depression to the Cold War.” This program explores Floridians’ memories of U-boat attacks, German POWs, the Cold War, the Cuban Missile Crisis, and more, using excerpts from Janie Gould’s Floridays radio shows first heard on public radio. Play Tennis with Local Pediatricians

3 to 5 p.m. at the Florida Tennis Center, 1 Deuce Court, Daytona Beach. Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center pediatricians Dr. Shilpa Sulochana and Dr. Mihir Tolat will offer attendees tennis tips and organized games for all levels of expertise. Because obesity can lead to many chronic diseases, such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, and even cancer, local pediatricians Sulochana and Tolat strongly children to exercise regularly, and note that tennis is a great way to improve aerobic fitness, strength training, and agility, all in one activity. Florida Licensing On Wheels

10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at City Hall. The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles FLOW mobile unit will provide drivers license/ID card change of address, renewals, replacements, and renewals and replacements of vehicle registration and disabled parking permits, as well as other needs. The only thing FLOW does not provide is for the drivers’ license road test. Before visiting, please go to www.gathergoget.com to learn about licensing and ID requirements and make sure you have everything you need when you visit FLOW so you don’t have to make a second trip. Stuttering Support Group

11 a.m. at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center, Medical Office Building, Classroom C, 305 Memorial Medical Parkway, Daytona Beach. The National Stuttering Association wants to help participants on their quest to communicate more easily and effectively. This support group is intended for adults who stutter and provides a safe and supportive environment for peer discussion. Under the guidance of one of our speech-language pathologists, attendants will learn new coping strategies and methods for improving overall quality of life. Meetings are intended to benefit individuals who stutter and for anyone with an interest in learning more about stuttering. This group meets on the fourth Tuesday of every month.
