The clubhouse at Halifax Plantation was filled on Monday, Nov. 17, for the Florida Hospital Flagler Foundation’s 2015 Humanitarian of the Year award dinner.
“These people have chosen to make a difference for the institution that they depend on to look out for them.” Ken Mattison, CEO of Florida Hospital Flagler
This year’s recipients, Peter and Sue Freytag, were honored for their contributions to the Foundation, from being a founding member of the 20/20 Society to the creation of the Freytag Children’s Rehabilitation Center on Cypress Edge in Palm Coast. Peter Freytag also is a member of the Foundation board.
Other community involvement include; the Flagler County Public Library, Washington Oaks Gardens State Park and “Take Stock in Children.”
Seated in the “chairs of honor” by the podium the couple was praised by a parade of people, including Linda Liston, whose son was a patient at the Children’s Rehabilitation clinic.
“Mr. and Mrs. Freytag, our family has been blessed and equally touched by your vision,” Liston said.
Liston’s sons, Patrick and Sean were at the dinner, sometimes stealing the show by simply being healthy and active little boys.
“Even though Peter and Sue may not be engaged in providing direct hands-on health care, I believe their contribution for the care that we provide is as important a fulfillment of our mission and our purpose to honor God as any work that I do, or my team,” Ken Mattison, CEO of Florida Hospital Flagler, said. “These people have chosen to make a difference for the institution that they depend on to look out for them
