John Subers, director of the Florida Hospital Flagler Foundation, presented the trophy to team leader Ana Fajardo at the Flagler School board meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 17.
“This is the second year we have awarded a trophy,” Subers said. “Wadsworth Elementary won the first year and Belle Terre overtook them this year with 37 participants.”
Proceeds from the fundraiser are used to pay for mammograms and other services for women unable to afford them.
“While funds are raised, the 5K is mostly about raising awareness,” Subers said. “Florida Hospital not only supports Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but also sees it as a great fitness and family activity.”
