Sept. 22
Safe was not safe
5:20 p.m. — First Block of Sycamore Circle
Burglary of a Residence. Responding to a burglary, the officer noted that the suspect gained entrance to the house by prying open the sliding glass door after entering the screened porch through an unlocked window.
The suspect had located a safe in the linen closet and cut the bolts which held it to the floor. It appeared the suspect had brought power tools with him. The entire safe was missing.
The victims had left the house at noon and returned at 4:20 p.m. There was $900 in cash and several items of jewelry in the safe.
Sept. 21
Pulling on handles
10:12 a.m. — 1400 Block of West Granada Boulevard
Information. The grocery store employee said he was gathering carts in the parking lot when he saw two males and a female pulling on car door handles. He said he kept his distance, but thinks they became spooked because one male and the female quickly got into an old Toyota.
The other male had entered a car but quickly got out the other side and into the Toyota. The employee thinks the male in the Toyota whistled for him.
The car left the parking lot, traveled north on Williamson Boulevard and pulled into another store parking lot.
Sept. 23
Phone fraud
7:56 a.m. — 300 Block of Ocean Shore Boulevard
Fraud. The victim said he received bills from two different wireless companies for accounts that he did not authorize.
One account included four phones and the charges were $2,868.91. The other account had five phones on it with a charge of $425.35.
Through the phone company fraud department, he found that someone in Fort Lauderdale opened an account with a photo ID and his information.
The victim closed the accounts and both wireless companies requested a police report to remove the charges.
Sept. 23
Lost and almost found
1:01 p.m. — 300 Block of Sanchez Avenue
Lost Property. The victim said he put his boat in the water to check for leaks and placed his wallet on the deck. He then started fishing and forgot about the wallet.
Later he made contact with an individual who said he was trying to contact police about a found wallet. The victim described the wallet and the suspect gave it to him.
They chatted for awhile and then the victim left the park. He checked his wallet and found all of the money was missing.
Sept. 26
Valet service
5:43 a.m. — 100 Block of Deer Lake Circle
Stolen Vehicle. The victim said she walked out of her house in the morning and her vehicle was missing from the driveway. She had both sets of keys and the vehicle was locked.
The same vehicle had been stolen the previous month. At that time, the valet key was in the vehicle. The car was found in a parking lot but the valet key was missing.
The officer noted the original thieves may have returned for the car. It was listed as stolen.
