Flagler Schools Superintendent Jacob Oliva has named Barbara Savelpahkick as principal of Rymfire Elementary School. Savelpahkick replaces Paula St. Francis, who is retiring Oct. 30 after a 39 year career in education.
Savelpahkick has been assistant principal at Rymfire Elementary since the school opened a decade ago. Of her longtime assistant, St. Francis believes the move to the principal’s office will be a seamless one.
“Barbara has been part of the team that built the culture of this school and will be able to make changes for the better. She knows the data, the kids, and the parents. She has a great working relationship with all the stakeholders.”
Savelpahkick, a proud Penn State graduate has been with the Flagler School District for 31 years. She began her teaching career at Bunnell Elementary with stops at Wadsworth Elementary, Indian Trails K-8 Center.
“I know I’m going to have some very big shoes to fill,” Savelpahkick said. “I’ve worked with Paula for 29 years but moving into that position, even though I’ve worked with her, I need to continue to work on building the culture that has been started here at Rymfire. Our goal is to continue to work towards student achievement.“
“Savelpahkick brings years of educational experience to Rymfire Elementary. Her vision and leadership style is the right fit to continue the successes Rymfire has achieved and will continue to achieve,” Oliva said.
