Christmas Come True’s first “Make a Difference Day - An Act of Kindness” was held at European Village on Saturday, Oct. 24, with the full support of the businesses.
“I felt so welcomed and supported by every business owner here,” director of Christmas Come True, Nadine King said.
Schools, businesses, and organizations set up booths to sell a variety of items to help raise money for the non-profit organization.
This year’s goal is to help 100 families. Last year 96 families, with 295 children, received Christmas dinner, new clothing, gifts, and Christmas stockings filled with personal hygiene items.
Make a Difference Day is a National Event by Newman’s Own Foundation, Gannett Foundation and USA Today. They will be awarding $10,000 awards for the three best events.
King is keeping her fingers crossed that her event will be selected. She said that money would go a long way to helping our community in need this Christmas, as well as putting Flagler County on the map for its generosity.
Plans are already being made for next year’s event. Anyone interested in making a donation can call, 302-1290, or visit the website at ChristmasComeTrue.org.
