Deputies have arrested two men from out of state — 27-year-old Ohio resident Bradley Douglas Pyles and 28-year-old Kentucky resident Shawn V. Olique — in connection with the burglary of a local man's home.

The victim was at his home on Bulow Woods Circle in Flagler Beach at about 12:59 p.m. Sept. 1 when he heard the doorbell ring. He didn't answer, but then he heard noises at the back door and saw two men force their way into the house, according to a Sheriff's Office news release.

He yelled at them, and they ran. Then he called the Sheriff's Office, and said he believed they'd taken off in a white Kia.

Sheriff's Office Deputy Mike Breckwoldt spotted a white Kia on John Anderson Highway minutes later and stopped it with help from Flagler Beach Police Department officers. The car had been reported stolen in Kentucky. Deputies secured the three people inside — Pyles, Olique and a 22-year-old woman — and detectives interviewed them.

The three were heading north from Miami, the detectives learned. "The two men were determined to be involved in other burglaries that occurred in several jurisdictions in Florida and Ohio," according to the news release.

Deputies charged both Pyles and Olique with burglary of an occupied dwelling and with grand theft.
