She then heard a car door slam shut. She turned around and saw her car driving along beside another car. Both were driving at a high rate of speed and exited the plaza.
Her cell phone, debit card and $20 in cash were in the car.
A witness at a nearby business said they have outdoor surveillance cameras, but it couldn’t be checked until the next day when the manager is there.

Just messing around
12:51 a.m. — 400 Block of Harbour Lights Drive
Possession of Cannabis. The officer noticed a pickup truck similar to one that had been driving recklessly the night before. When he attempted a traffic stop, the truck tried to evade the officer by turning down side streets and rapidly accerating. It also turned out its lights.
The officer was eventually able to make a traffic stop on the truck which had expired tag. There was a person in the passenger seat and a person in the truck bed.
The driver said he made evasive maneuvers because he thought a friend was following him, and he was just messing around.
The officer could smell marijuana, and the driver said there was a “little weed” in the glove box.
A probable-cause search revealed 26 grams of marijuana in a plastic bag, digital scale and one oxycodone pill in plain view on the driver’s seat.
The driver said the cannabis belonged to a coworker who needed a place to store it while he was working. He said the scale also belonged to the coworker. He said the coworker “got busy” and forgot about the cannabis.
He denied the oxcodone pill belonged to him.
The driver was arrested for possession of cannabis, oxycodone and reckless driving.
The two passengers were also arrested. One had five oxycodone pills, and there was an active Volusia County warrant for the other.
A day at the lake interrupted
1:02 p.m. — 1500 Block of West Granada Boulevard
Trespassers. A police officer noticed three people at a retention pond between a department store and West Granada Boulevard. He recognized them from numerous contacts in the past.
Two were seated on a blanket. One had a 16-ounce can of Natural Ice beer and the other two were drinking Hurricane High Gravity Malt Liquor.
They had been trespassed from the business before, which means they were subject to arrest for returning. They said they didn’t realize the pond was on the business property, and the business representative gave them the benefit of the doubt and declined to press charges.
They cleaned up their trash and left without incident.
