The following is an adapted press release.
A survey to collect opinions regarding school uniforms is now accessible on Volusia County Schools’ website and or by scanning a QR code during open houses at each school. The school board requested the input of the community as part of their discussion regarding changes to the student dress code and the possibility of requiring uniforms for the 2016-17 school year.
Parents, guardians, students, teachers and school-administrators are invited to take part in the survey to provide information to the school board. Any changes to the student dress code policy will require consideration at two future school board meetings, both of which will allow for additional public input.
To participate in the survey, visit the district’s website at http://myvolusiaschools.org. The survey is located on the "news" tab and will be available until midnight on Sept. 30. Parents, guardians and students will also be offered the opportunity complete the survey during open house by scanning a QR code with a smart phone or accessing the survey on a school computer. The survey is available in English and Spanish.
The current student dress code was adopted in 2011-12 and established guidelines for appearance and dress of students. Prior to 2011-12, the student dress code was established individually by each school.
