The federal Drug Enforcement Administration executed a search warrant at a pharmacy in Ormond Beach on Sept. 25, as well as a pharmacy in DeLand. Two men were arrested. There is an arrest warrant for a third person but agency spokeswoman Raynette Savoy-Kornickey would not divulge the identity.

Kornickey said the searches were the result of a two-year investigation by the Orlando DEA Tactical Diversion Squad. The agency suspected that the pharmacies were involved in “dispensing controlled pharmaceuticals outside the standards of medical practice and for no legitimate medical purpose.”

Arrested were Magdy Fam at Ormond Pharmacy, 500 W. Granada Blvd., and Michael Kamel at Peter’s Pharmacy, 1431 Orange Camp Road, DeLand.

According to Volusia County Jail records, Fam is charged with trafficking in hydrocodone, possession of oxycodone with intent to sale or deliver and several other offenses; and Kamel is charged with trafficking in hydrocodone and hydromorphone.
