“The Greatest Save is the one we never have to make.”
-TGS Mission Statement
The Kinder Vision Foundation has been dedicated to keeping children in our country safe for the last 25 years. This year was the eighth-annual “The Greatest Save Celebrity Benefit,” held at Hammock Beach Resort on Sunday, Sept. 27. The Greatest Save program focuses on educating children and families to eliminate sexual exploitation and abduction.
The organization is now focusing on implementing the Teen PSA program in every middle and high school in every state. As of the year 2010 there was only one high school, in one state, participating in the program. As of this year there are 247 middle and high schools throughout eight states with students producing over 11 million safety messages and reaching 296,000 students. Each thirty second video is produced by students, in an effort reach out to fellow students on the importance of internet safety, date rape, human trafficking and abduction. The videos are used to raise awareness and prevent victimization.
This year three schools were recognized as Teen PSA award winners. Coming in first place in the state was Matanzas High School, University High School won first place in Volusia County and Landrum Middle School, of St. Johns County, won second place in the state.
The Greatest Save program works closely with local law enforcements nationwide. 2015 Law Enforcement Awards were given to Investigator Steve White, of Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, Corporal Steve Gazdick, of St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office and Detective Annie Conrad, of Flagler County Sheriff’s Office. The awards recognized individuals who have contributed significantly to preventing crimes against children.
An extremely rare award was given to Board of Director Larry Mingledorff for making a significant difference in the community as well as helping to propel the Kinder Vision Foundation. Mingledorff received the Crystal Angel Award for showing his support at a memorial for an 8-year-old girl who died as the result of abduction, sexual molestation and murder, in 2013. As a representative for the Kinder Vision’s Greatest Save Program, he went to the memorial to show immediate support for the family and friends of the victim.
