Christmas Come True celebrated its spring event at European Village on April 2. The event held a Passport tour for a donation of $15. The tour went around European Village and attendants were able to enjoy samplings of wine, beer, cheeses and chocolates from the European Village stores and participating vendors.

Founder Nadine King’s goal this year will be to help 125 families at Christmas. Christmas Come True is about providing families with new clothing, toys, gifts and Christmas stockings with a customized Christmas dinner.  At other points throughout the year, Christmas Come True helps families with many other challenges. Whether it is help with finding housing, paying bills, or making mortgage payments throughout the year, the organization is there to assist. Families are all selected after an application and interview process. Those families selected are fortunate enough to have a Christmas provided by the organization. King noticed the poor economy in 2009 and wanted to do something. “This is something God put into my heart,” King said.

King hosts fundraisers throughout the year, so once Christmas comes they can fulfill children’s wish lists. Christmas wishes come true by starting out with 20 trees placed throughout county businesses. Each tree has stars filled with the wish lists of children. People of our community can choose a star and complete as much of the wish list they can. If the wish lists aren’t completed than the funds raised throughout the year help complete the Christmas lists.
