The Matanzas Woods Golf Course property is now in compliance with the city of Palm Coast's requirements, following months of city complaints and the accumulation of tens of thousands of dollars in code enforcement fines.
The city had been fining property owner the Group Golf at $500 per day, and the Code Board recommended at a March 9 hearing — by which the Group Golf had racked up $97,500 in fines — that the city start foreclosure proceedings. The Group Golf filed a suit to stop the city.
The proposed foreclosure is now on hold. The city stopped its $500 per day fine after a code inspection of the property March 23, when a city inspector found that the property met the city's standards. "Further negotiating continues with respect to keeping the property in compliance," city spokeswoman Cindi Lane said in an email.
