No children were hurt when a car rear-ended a school bus April 11 after the car's driver dropped food in her lap and briefly looked away from the road.

The car driver, 23-year-old Meghan Rose Wilsey, told Flagler County Sheriff's Offiice deputies that when she looked back up, the bus was stopped. She was cited for careless driving.

Wilsey didn't complain of injuries at the scene of the crash, but was still checked at the hospital becasue she was pregnant, according to a Sheriff's Office spokeswoman. She had no passengers. The driver of the school bus was also not hurt.

The crash happened as the bus — number 20403, also called the Elk Bus — was slowing down for a stop on Pine Grove Drive at the corner of Pittman Drive at 8:22 a.m., yellow lights flashing.

Wilsey was following behind the bus in a blue 2015 Kia Optima, and the impact caused the Kia's airbags to deploy.

The bus driver put the bus in park, then checked on the 19 Wadsworth Elementary School students on board, according to a Flagler County School District news release.

Paramedics and deputies arrived at the scene, and the paramedics checked the children. None needed to be hospitalized. They were transferred to another bus, which took them to Wadsworth Elementary School.

Saxon's Wrecker and Automotive towed the Kia from the scene, and the bus involved in the crash was driven away after the children were transferred to the new bus.
