The grass on the Matanzas Woods Golf property is now trim enough to meet city of Palm Coast standards, and a running $500 per day fine and proposed city foreclosure on the property is on hold. The Group Golf has talked to city staff members about contracting with a planner to explore development options for the land.

But the Group Golf isn’t out of the woods yet: The city still has concerns about structures on the property that don’t meet city code.

City Code Enforcement Section officials met with owners from the Group Golf at the property April 12, city spokeswoman Cindi Lane said, and inspected the maintenance building, the golf cart barn, the old clubhouse, the two bathrooms on the course and the cart bridges.

Code staff pointed out concerns with the structures, and with drainage issues with the course’s pond.

“The code staff here are now evaluating what’s good, and what needs to be improved,” Lane said. “We’re in negotiations with them about additional improvements, and we’re talking with them about how the property might be used. ... It seems that over the past few weeks, there has been some progress.”
