Let's just say, it's been a tough week.
After some days of feeling consistently down I was really in need of a win — in the form of some delicious, sugary goodness. And just like a magic, an email appeared from my friend (and hero) Darlynn Tacinelli.
An invitation to an open house of Krispy Kreme was exactly what I needed. Held by her company, Little Blog Dress Media, the event was to showcase the company's production and have the opportunity to become a donut ambassador. That's right people. a donut AMBASSADOR. Pretty sure Darlynn's reading my diary.
The event started off with a tasting, and we sampled everything from cookie dough donuts to Oreo chillers to the classic glazed. Everything was cut into smaller pieces so you weren't so aware about how many donuts you were eating. Smart move for Krispy, bad move for Emily.
"Pace yourself," Laura Richeson told me as I quickly sampled the yummy cookie dough donut. "I want you to try everything!"
I wish I could say that was the first time someone told me to slow down at a donut shop.
We then took a tour behind the scenes to see how the donuts where made. After carefully listening to the owners explain the process, I can tell you it goes something like this "dough plops onto to tray thing, gets put in huge vertical oven, gets dunked in glaze river and then decorated with deliciousness.
The coolest part of the tour was dunking the fresh donuts into the chocolate frosting. While there is an art to it, 9-year-old Pheona Novas did what we were all thinking and dunked that sucker completely in chocolate.
Because the only remedy for a bad week is baked goods.
