The opening reception of William Lurcott’s “A Landscape Perspective” will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 3 at the Ocean Art Gallery, 206 Moody Blvd., in Flagler Beach. The opening kicks off the month-long show and is free and open to the public.
During the reception, the artist will meet with guests and explain his artistic techniques. There will be light refreshments and live music.
While Lurcott has experience painting any medium, he prefers pastels and oils.
“The kinesthetic handling of pastel, from the support (sanded papers, gessoed boards, and prepared grounds on various surfaces), to the application and textural components of the sticks themselves, provide for a tactile experience unequaled with any other medium. Just the handling of them has provided for a whole universe of exploration for me,” Lurcott said.
Lurcott continues to educate and re-invent himself both as an artist and as a human being on a great adventure. He lives near the sea with his wife, Lauree, in Flagler Beach. He considers the painting process to be an exploration and adventure into light and color, with his art evolving as his perspective and vision change.
