Some people are difficult to buy for at Christmas, unless they are dog or cat people. These folks always appreciate gifts for their pets, which can make shopping for them really easy on you.
I enjoy creating things, crafts, painting….I think I have craft attention deficit. I see, and want to try, everything, and anything.
This past weekend I was in Fredericksburg, Virginia, walking in the downtown area, street after street of so many wonderful shops. When I see something in a shop, I look it over and decide how I could make it myself. I had a list of ideas by the time we left – including pet gift ideas.
I have made felt mice, stuffed and sprinkled with catnip, for my daughter’s cat. I found the pattern on pinterest.com. I hand-sewed them, and it took her cat, Robby, quite a while to tear them apart. He will get more this Christmas (don’t tell him if you see him). Want to try it? Here’s the link to the pattern: http://bit.ly/2ghkMe5
Another easy DIY idea is to make dog/cat beds. It’s getting cooler, and we tend to have tiled floors in Florida. A no-sew method is to take two squares of felt, fringe them with scissors, tie the fringes together, add stuffing to some inexpensive pillow cases and put them in between the felt. Tie the last side – viola – easy peasy doggie bed, that is also easy to take apart and wash.
The neat thing about the bed is the felt blankets are very popular and stores that sell fabric have bolts of cute designs and even team colors. If you aren’t sure about the process, just ask at the fabric shop.
As one who generally travels with her dogs, a cover for the back seat is a perfect gift. Again, pinterest.com has so many ideas and different patterns to try.
A relatively new product I found was a water bottle for your pup, that had its own “bowl” that snaps on the side of the bottle when not in use. How many times have you cupped your hands and tried to share the water in your water bottle?
There is still time, and so many ideas, so get busy and create!
