The Civic Ballet of Volusia County will present its 20th-annual Nutcracker performance at The Peabody this weekend.
Held at 2 p.m. Dec. 10, and 11, the CBVC, a 501(C)(3) non-profit, will bring a fresh, all-new Nutcracker, led by Artistic Director Natasha Glos of the Orlando Ballet and Assistant Artistic Director Eileen Zielinski also of the Orlando Ballet.
Special guest artists Sophia Lucia stars in a role created just for her, the North Star. The current Guinness Book of World Record Holder for most pirouettes, Lucia has appeared in "Dance Moms," "So You Think You Can Dance," and will star in the Hallmark movie, "A Nutcracker Christmas," on Dec. 10.
This year's Sugarplum Fairy and Cavalier will be performed by young dance prodigies Juliette Bosco and Austen Acevedo of Ellison Ballet in NYC. Juliette and Austen are grand prize winners of coveted ballet competitions such as Youth America Grand Prix and Prix de Lausanne. They have been guest performers at galas all over the world, and are the first pre-professionals to perform at the Mariinski Theater in St. Petersburg, Russia, by special invitation.
With our largest cast ever, from 10 dance studios around Volusia, Flagler, and Seminole Counties, the company will bring a new take on this treasured holiday classic. The popular Children's Sugarplum Tea will be held before each performance where young guests will enjoy cookies and cocoa while meeting some of the most beloved characters in the Nutcracker. Limited seatings are at 1 p.m. each day, and the advanced purchase tickets are available at the Peabody Box Office and at Ticketmaster.
Tickets to the Nutcracker range from $10 to $40, plus service charges, and are available at the Peabody Box Office and at Ticketmaster.
