No one was forgotten during Emmanuel's Closet's "Hearts for Homeless" Christmas Party on Saturday, Dec. 3.
Families in transition, without a current residence, and with children in Flagler Schools, and women from women’s abuse shelters, enjoyed food, festivities and gift bags filled with “existence” items, gift certificates, and more.
The Parkview Baptist Church Quilting Ministry, handmade 15 jean bag purses that were given as Christmas gifts. These unique purses were also stuffed with useful items.
The party was also a time to shop, free of charge as always, in the boutique, for coats, shoes, clothing, sleeping bags, blankets, hygiene items, and food.
The boutique is designed to provide a place of love and acceptance, and to get items to meet their basic, daily, needs.
“It's such a gift to be able to bless these mamas and children, from the shelters, and FIT program. And we've seen homeless lives turned around," Dorothy Kelly, the co-founder and team leader of the "Hearts for Homeless" branch of Emmanuel's Closet, said. "We've seen people get off the streets, get jobs, and quit drinking. We have a formerly homeless woman, now serving on our H4H team! So many of these men and women are inherently good, who've fallen on hard times. When they know someone believes in them, that God loves them, they start to believe in themselves again!"
