Michael Levin and William Norris, both 17 years old, have achieved the rank of
Eagle Scout with Boy Scout Troop 386. To reach this esteemed new ranking each
Eagle Scout candidate must complete a community service project.
Michael and William both chose to enhance Palm Coast VFW Post 8696. There was a personal connection since the scout troop has its meetings at the Post.
Michael's project was to replace the six flag poles in front of the Post. These poles fly the five military services flags, and the VFW colors.
William created a paved walkway that now leads to the ceremonial flag retiring pit. The ceremonial flag retiring pit was Christopher Conlon’s Eagle Scout project last year.
Eagle projects have strict guidelines. The projects must benefit the community; and test the scout’s ability to plan, develop and lead.
A dedication ceremony was conducted on Saturday, Dec. 10, and officiated by Post Commander Steven Jackson.
The Post Commander expressed immense gratitude to the scouts on behalf of the membership and all of the veterans groups that share the facility.
