ATVs, boats, and kayaks — oh my. Ormond Outpost quietly opened its doors two weeks ago to offer equipment and accessories for almost every kind of outdoor sport a person could want.
Located at 1385 N. U.S. 1, the store was founded by three local entrepreneurs: John Regan, company president; Scott Radikopf, vice president, and Justin Murphy, general manager. The trio hopes to be a one-stop shop for everything a person could need to have a good ole Florida adventure.
"We wanted to do something at a local, community level for Ormond that no one has really done before," Murphy said.
The outdoor-centric complex currently offers gear, equipment, and apparel for hunting, fishing, camping and boating — including motorcycles, ATV’s, boats and kayaks. They also have a Level 10 Performance/Motorsports Center, which is the performance and parts division.
"It's just a big toy store," Regan said.
On their staff are knowledgeable crew members such as Navy veteran, Stephen Benton, and Army veteran, Ryan Morrison, who serve as lead marine and motorcycle technicians.
A self-described “river rat” Benton served as a Navy aircraft mechanic and spent the majority of his 21 service years deployed worldwide as part of the U.S. Navy Riverine Squadron. Morrison was an ammunition specialist and completed tours of duty in Afghanistan and Iraq, conducting classified military operations. Murphy is an avid hunter and fisherman and a former police detective.
The complex also has a "Beer Cave," and a 5-acre open lot and an additional 1-acre riverfront lot with a 1,500-square- foot dock, the owners plan to enhance access to the Tomoka River. They hope to hold special events and maybe even some concerts there throughout the year.
Ormond Outpost's grand opening will be in February.
