No one expected the game to reach the fifth inning, due to the lingering gray clouds that filled the sky on the evening of Thursday, Feb. 4, at Mainland High School.
The volunteer at the Mainland/Seabreeze softball game handed out raincheck tickets for all who paid to enter the game, understanding rain or lightning would strike at any moment. The weather held off until the start of the fifth inning, where the Lady Sandcrabs led the Buccaneers 4-0.
Although the final two innings haven’t been rescheduled, both teams expect to finish the game before their second meeting, which will take place at 6:30 Tuesday, Mar. 1, at Seabreeze.
