Feb. 2
Too good to be true
8:59 a.m. — 1500 Block of West Granada Boulevard
Fraud. The victim said he was approached by two males at a store, who said if he gave them a large sum of money, they would give him a few hundred thousand dollars in return.
He was convinced the offer was legitimate and went to the bank, withdrew money and gave it to the males.
He has not heard from the males since that time and suspects he was defrauded. The report did not say exactly how much money he lost.
Feb. 7
Suspect was all wet
12:00 a.m. — 500 Block of South Yonge Street
Operating with suspended driver’s license. The officer noticed a car with a headlight out and swerving in its lane. The car pulled into an apartment complex and the driver got out and ran into one of the units while the officer was yelling, “Stop, police.”
Officers made entry into the apartment and the suspect was found in the shower. After changing into dry clothes, he was arrested.
The suspect was found to be on probation and having a suspended driver’s license.
Feb. 8
No suspects?
1:19 p.m. — 600 Block of South Center Street
Theft. The victim said sometime during the evening, someone stole his wallet and prescription narcotic medication. He last saw the items the previous night while lying on the couch and heavily drinking alcohol. The wallet had $250 in cash and various cards.
He lives with five other individuals but does not suspect any of them.
Feb. 9
Pick pocket
2:20 a.m. — 1600 Block of North U.S. 1
Theft. The victim said that while travelling from Georgia, he stopped at an ice cream store. While standing in line, he believes a male took his cell phone from his back pocket.
He realized the phone was missing two hours later when he arrived at his destination in South Florida. He was able to determine that his phone had been used in Palm Coast after he lost it.
Feb. 10
Dine and dash
12:15 a.m. — 500 Block of South Atlantic Avenue
Petit Theft. The store clerk said the suspect entered and made himself a hotdog with condiments. He ate the hotdog as he browsed the aisles. The clerk saw him take a sandwich from the cooler and place it down his pants.
The suspect brought the partially eaten hot dog to the counter and took out his wallet as if to pay. The clerk asked about the sandwich, and the suspect said he was homeless and hungry. The clerk ordered him to return the sandwich to the cooler.
The suspect placed the sandwich back into the cooler, and the clerk reminded him about paying for the hotdog. The suspect then ran from the store. The value of the hotdog was $1.59 plus tax.
The suspect was located at a nearby store where he was caught shoplifting more food items and was arrested.
Feb. 10
Not quite locked
7:20 a.m. — 200 Block of Williamson Boulevard
Burglary. The victim said when he opened the door of the business that morning, he noticed a 55-inch flat screen TV was missing from the wall. When he went into the waiting room, he noticed a 25-inch TV was missing. Also, $24 was missing from the cash drawer.
He said he locked the door the night before but it may not have been completely closed.
