"My goal through implementing a farmers market in Palm Coast was to get people excited to shop local," said Market Coordinator Scott Campion, owner of Cork & Pint, in European Village.

Cars parked in grassy nooks along Palm Harbor Parkway as residents quickly discovered the grand opening of Palm Coast’s first famers market on Sunday, Feb. 14, at European Village. The market boasted over 50 vendors, each selling unique, handmade, and locally produced products.
The market organizer is Scott Campion, owner of the Cork & Pint bar in European Village.
“I started brainstorming with the city about a year and a half ago, for ways we could help revive the local businesses in Palm Coast,” said Campion. “My goal through implementing a farmers market in Palm Coast was to get people excited to shop local again. Eventually European Village stood out in my mind as the perfect venue to host a fresh
market.”
Campion suspected foot traffic in European Village to pick back up with the additional vendors and produce. The first day of the market was met with an overwhelming response from local residents.
“We already sold out of all our gourmet popcorn,” said Kim Sunshine, owner of Victory Popcorn. “I had to go replenish our product and it is only two o’clock.”
With the market in high demand, plans of expanding European Village’s parking are already being put in place.
“We have the capacity to grow the market to 80 vendors,” said head advertiser Heather Thompson, of HT Production Company. “Seeing the wonderful response from the community, it is likely that a parking expansion will be implemented sometime this year.”
Starting in the first week of April, over a dozen artist vendors will be invited to join the market. The artists will be invited back for the first Sunday of every month.
“European Village is back on the map,” proudly proclaimed Gail Wadsworth, of the Flagler County Clerk of Court, as she gazed around at the masses of people enjoying their Sunday afternoon browsing through the community market.
