scholarship fund. High school students throughout Flagler County are encouraged to apply for the scholarship no later than Friday, Feb. 19.
To be considered as a candidate, the applicant must have a minimum of two years as a member of the AACS Youth Black History Reality Program. The application requires two letters of recommendation from a mentor, teacher, or employer. An unofficial copy of the student’s transcript must be submitted with the form for consideration. Print out the application form at flaglerschools.com and search for “scholarships.” Applicants must provide written evidence of enrollment in a college or program beyond high school, in order to be considered for the scholarship.
Each student interested in applying is required to write an essay focused on “How this scholarship would benefit my future and education.” The essay must be a minimum length of one page and typed in double space, 10-12 print font.
The AACS provides on average six scholarships to Flagler County college bound students every year. The winners for the 2016 scholarships will be announced towards the end of the month of February.
“This jazz event is a wonderful opportunity to bring everyone together for a home-style breakfast and great music,” said AACS President James Sharpe. “This is just one of many events we hold every year in order to provide support to the youth in Flagler County.”
