On a whirl? Thieves steal Whirlpool appliances

9:30 a.m. First block of Palm Lane. Residential burglary: A real estate office employee called the Sheriff's Office and reported that someone kicked in the door of a bank-owned house and stole a Whirlpool microwave worth $360 and a Whirlpool range worth $460, according to a Sheriff's Office report.

Putting school first

4:34 p.m. 100 block of Woodside Drive. Car break-in: A woman went out to her car at about 7:30 a.m. and saw that items from the glove compartment were scattered across the front seat, and her $200 Coach purse was stolen. The purse held her wallet and driver's license and her children's Social Security cards. But the woman didn't call the Sheriff's Office until about nine hours later, telling a deputy that she'd needed to drop her kids off at school and go to work, according to a Sheriff's Office report. The deputy wrote in the report that it seemed that car had been left unlocked.
