Detectives in Hernando County, on Florida's west coast, have asked people in other counties to be on the lookout for a suspected rapist authorities believe may be traveling through the state.

The man, 41-year-old David Deine Sr., is wanted on charges of sexual battery with physical force, battery/strangulation, and sexual battery on a victim over 12, according to a Hernando County Sheriff's Office news release forwarded to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office and then to the local press.

Hernando County detectives believe Deine is driving a 2007 Blue Suzuki Forenza with the Florida tag GEED86.

Deine is white, 5 feet, 7 inches tall, 165 pounds and bald, with brown eyes. He was last seen the afternoon of Feb. 25 in the area of Spring Hill in Hernando County, according to the news release.

Deine has family members or associates in Miami, Florida; in New York (in Brooklyn, the Bronx, and Kings County); and in California; and may try to travel to those places.

Anyone who sees Deine should call police immediately, and not approach him or his car, according to the news release.

The Hernando County Sheriff's Office has asked anyone who has information about Deine's whereabouts to call the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office at 352-754-6830, or to call local law enforcement.
