Robbery without a weapon. A male walked into a convenience store just wearing dark shorts and dark socks. The suspect brought food projects to the counter and asked for a tobacco product. When the clerk turned his back, the suspect dashed out of the store with the food.
The victim ran out to the suspect’s car, and held the door open. The suspect gave back some of the food, but kept a sandwich and ice cream. He told the victim that he had a knife in the car and he would use it if he did not let go of the door.
The victim let go and the suspect left the scene.
Police officers found that the tag number belonged to a person in another city. Using software available to police, the officer located the driver’s license of the suspect. The picture on the driver’s license matched the suspect on the store surveillance.
The officers also found the suspect on social media, and learned that he had stated he was starting school in the area. The police located him at the school and arrested him.
