Flagler/Volusia Senior Fitness expert launces first senior fitness DVD
Artie Gardella or “Artie G.,” a personal trainer and owner of Synergy Senior Fitness, recently released his first senior fitness DVD, “Exercises for the Maturing Body.”
“I’ve been blessed to help seniors in the Volusia and Flagler community with their fitness needs for over 10 years,” Gardella said. “In this new DVD, I’ve compiled the top senior-centric exercises that I’ve seen produce the best results for our local seniors over the past 10 years.”
In this hour-long routine, Artie G. focuses on exercises that will develop muscle tone, strength, endurance, bone density, cardiovascular and core strength, as well as special exercises to increase balance, coordination and fall prevention.
He’s been in the fitness industry for over 12 years and specializes in senior fitness. Engineer of the Year
Florida Hospital Flagler Facilities Manager John Newman was recognized by the Florida Healthcare Engineering Association as the 2015 Engineer of the Year for District 2, which is comprised of Jacksonville, Gainesville, Coral Springs, Orlando, Graham, and Ocala.
FHEA is a statewide organization comprised of active healthcare engineers and supporting members. This award recognizes Newman for his commitment and dedication to excellence, as well as his proficiency and knowledge of the trade.
“We, here at Florida Hospital Flagler, know how devoted John is to our mission and are thrilled to see that the FHEA awarded him with this honor,” said Ken Mattison, Florida Hospital Flagler CEO.
In his role at Florida Hospital Flagler, Newman oversees the overall operation of the hospital’s engineering and security departments. Additionally, he serves as the hospital’s safety officer.
Realtor of the Year
Broker Associate Gail Downs of RE/MAX Flagstaff was recognized as the 2015 Realtor of the Year by the Flagler County Association of Realtors at the FCAR Installation Ceremony on Dec. 10.
Downs currently serves on the FCAR Board of Directors as secretary and has served as Chairperson of the Grievance Committee, and was honored with the award, due to her advocacy in the community and her production in 2015. During the ceremony, Megan Farrell, realtor at Watson Realty Corp., who presented Downs with the award, saying a consumer defined her as “the definition of Realtor of the Year.”
“We couldn’t be happier for her. Gail is very deserving of this award, she has been an integral part of the association providing time and energy to its success,” said Jimmy Millhollin, broker/owner of RE/MAX Flagstaff.
Affiliate of the Year
The Women’s Council of Realtors’ Flagler Chapter named Laura Leonardo Flynn the 2015 Affiliate of the Year. Flynn was presented the award at WCR’s December meeting.
“Laura clearly deserves this award,” said 2015 Past President of WCR Elisha Heebner. “She certainly works hard to keep our industry educated and informed with all the latest updates and changes.”
Flynn currently serves as WCR’s secretary and received the award for her ‘extemporary business experience and industry involvement for the WCR.
