Dec. 22

Sock it to them

6:00 p.m. — 1500 Block of West Granada Boulevard

Petit Theft. The suspect left the store after concealing several items inside socks that she purchased. She had left the tags and packaging inside socks on the shelf.

She was charged with stealing kids’ shoes, two eight-packs of batteries, T-shirt, several pairs of underwear; and cosmetics including eyeliner, bronzer, nail polish and lipstick.

 

Dec. 23

Going back to school

2:56 a.m. — 100 Block of Osceola Avenue

Burglary and Trespassing. Two officers were dispatched to an elementary school after a burglary alarm sounded. After climbing over the entrance gate, the officers found two suspects with flashlights on the grounds.

The suspects ran and jumped over two fences, leaving behind two black backpacks. A perimeter was set up and the suspects were stopped on Carib Drive.

In post-Miranda interviews, one suspect said he wanted to show the other suspect his old school. They walked around the school grounds, found the cafeteria door to be open and entered, they said. They took the backpacks out of a storage room.

The backpacks were full of school supplies and were valued at $80 each. They are provided to families who need assistance.

 

Dec. 28

Will it float?

9:56 a.m. — 1200 Block of West Granada Boulevard  

Burglary. The victim said someone vandalized a shed in back of her business sometime over the weekend. The officer observed that a white wooden door, three sign posts, wooden dresser, window screen and two metal rain gutters were floating in a pond on the property.

 

Jan. 1

New Year’s Eve Trouble

12:25 a.m. — First Block of Crooked Tree Trail  

Allowing Alcohol for Minors. Officers arrived at the scene of a party after a report of a fight, and saw that both sides of the road were lined with vehicles, and open containers were all over the property. It was estimated that 150 minors ran from the residence.

Two intoxicated minors were detained and their parents were called.

An adult on the scene said he had been hired by the homeowner to provide security and watch for uninvited guests. He called 911 when a fight broke out.

The homeowner’s minor daughter was at the party, the incident report stated.

The homeowner was contacted, and when she arrived, she was arrested for DUI. She had been at another party.

The security guard was arrested for allowing alcohol to minors.
