Can’t hide that smell
2:52 a.m. — First Block of North Yonge Street
Possession of Marijuana. After observing the suspect speeding across Granada Bridge, the officer attempted a traffic stop on West Granada Boulevard. The car stopped at a red light, and then turned onto Yonge Street where it pulled into a parking lot.
While speaking with the suspect, the officer detected an overpowering odor of cologne with a hint odor of burnt marijuana. He was also noticed the suspect’s zipper was undone.
The officer conducted a search because of the marijuana odor. He found a backpack containing a jar with marijuana residue, zipper lock storage bags and a scale.
Upon searching the suspect, the officer asked him about his zipper, and he pulled a bag of marijuana and a grinder with marijuana residue from his boxers.
All of the items were placed into evidence. The suspect was given a notice to appear in court for marijuana possession.
Quick thief
9:35 p.m. — 800 Block of Peninsula Drive
Car Break. The victim said her purse and I-phone were stolen from her vehicle. She said she arrived at the residence, got out and left it running. While talking to a friend at the front door, she saw a suspicious vehicle drive slowly by. After five minutes, she went back to her car and noticed the items were missing.
She never saw the vehicle stop.
She ran the “track my phone” application but it said “unable to locate.” Her purse contained a wallet with driver’s license, debit card and makeup products.

8:05 a.m. — 500 Block of South Atlantic Avenue
Unlawful Consumption of Alcohol. The victim said the suspect entered the store and walked back to the beer cooler. He removed a single can of beer and walked to the fountain drink area. He then opened the beer, consumed part of it, and then poured the rest in a white cup with ice. The suspect then threw the empty beer can in the trash.
He walked to the counter, but he had a fountain drink instead of the beer. The suspect attempted to pay for the items but his card was declined. A witness called police.
After police arrived, he paid for the items.
The suspect was arrested for possession of open alcoholic beverages at a convenience store.
